When I was in elementary school, my grandmother lived around the corner from the school. My parents would drop us off there before school and then go to work. Some days I was lucky enough that my grandmother would cook breakfast. I have very fond memories of her making these pigs in the blanket. Throughout college I made them for friends and they were always a hit. The first time I made them for my wife she fell in love with them too. My wife and son both love them with scrambled eggs, but I think that they are best with over medium eggs so you can dunk them in the luscious yolk.
Most of the time when I make these I use homemade pizza dough or pizza dough from my local pizzeria, a passable replacement is canned pizza dough from your local supermarket.
